Epic Enhances Parental Controls in Fortnite to Monitor Playtime and Promote Healthy Gaming Habits
Epic is introducing new features to Fortnite that allow parents to manage their children's playtime more effectively. This initiative aims to provide an additional layer of support for families, ensuring that kids do not spend all their time engaged in the game, which has achieved substantial fame worldwide.
In an official announcement, Epic outlined the enhancements to their parental controls, which will now include time tracking reports. This new functionality enables parents to detail the timing and the duration of their children are able to access Fortnite, including the option to designate certain hours as available for play.
When these time restrictions are in place, players will receive in-game alerts when they are approaching their time limit, notifying them that they have 30 minutes remaining. Once the allotted time has expired, players will be unable to continue until the next designated period begins, prompting them to seek alternative activities.
The newly introduced time limits and reports are a element of an expansive range of functionalities focused on providing parents with increased supervision over their kids’s gaming experiences. Additional options include managing voice and chat settings, filtering out inappropriate language, and controlling purchase permissions to prevent unplanned expenses.
The widespread success of Fortnite has drawn attention from parenting groups, with concerns raised regarding the potential for gaming addiction among youth. While similar claims have been voiced about numerous popular games, Fortnite remains a focal point of this ongoing discussion.
Regardless of these challenges, the game continues to thrive. Recently, Epic launched Fortnite Patch 31.30, which includes a sleep mode and special Fortnitemares events. Currently, the game is in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, featuring a range of Marvel-inspired content, set to continue until November.
