The Witcher Season 4 Reveals Roach’s Astonishing New Look

The fourth season of The Witcher introduces us to yet another character donning an entirely new visage, and rest assured, we're not jesting in the slightest.

Following the unveiling of Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt debuting his updated appearance, we now have another Witcher 'entity' presenting itself with a novel (extended) visage for audiences to acclimate to. The time for jests is over – let’s delve into the newly crowned lead of The Continent.

According to Redanian Intelligence, Geralt’s faithful companion Roach – erstwhile depicted by equines Zeus and Hector through the preceding triad of seasons – will assume the guise of Pinocchio in The Witcher’s fourth season. Feast your eyes on this development below.

In line with the lore established in both the interactive and written narratives, Roach serves as the moniker for any of Geralt’s mounts. In the series’ sophomore season on Netflix, the original horse met its demise following an encounter with the fearsome Chernobog.

At that juncture, series creator Lauren Hissrich expressed to GamesRadar+, "What captivates me about the literary and digital narratives is his tradition of naming all subsequent horses Roach. It opens a dialogue about who Roach was in his life and the ramifications of losing such a pivotal ally. How does he come to find another?"

"Regarding the demise of Roach – I was adamant that if it were to happen, it should weave into the narrative," Hissrich remarked. "I was against having Roach meet his end off-screen without any acknowledgment."

An emotive eulogy from Geralt also marked this episode – a contribution that, Hissrich notes, was penned by Henry Cavill, the then-portrayer of Geralt.

"The farewell was profoundly moving… it truly felt akin to parting ways with a beloved character," remembered Hissrich. "It was imperative for us to honor this moment appropriately and ensure his departure was depicted as valiant."

Geralt, accompanied by a rejuvenated Roach, will grace The Witcher season 4, with plans for a fifth and final season already in motion.
