Unity Technologies Grants Apology for Fee Modifications Misunderstandings
Unity has apologised after their proposal to charge developers for downloads of games created using its technology sparked outrage. The initiative triggered backlash from developers who were left confused about the practical impact of the policy. Unity has since pledged to make alterations to the plans. However, it has not confirmed what these changes will entail and hinted they may not meet developers' demand for a total reversal of the policy. The lack of clarity has led to further criticism, notably from indie developer Rami Ismail. Ismail stated that Unity's disruptions caused developers to try alternatives such as Godot & Unreal. He demanded assurance that games made before policy changes would not be affected and asked for a year before the new terms would apply.
